Wisconsin has designated the month of June as “Invasive Species Awareness Month” to put a spotlight on a growing problem, invasive species. From 1-2pm, Ramona Shackleford, Director of the Northwoods Cooperative Weed Management Area, will present a program “Invasive Terrestrial Plants of the Northwoods”. Shackleford will help you identify the most invasive terrestrial plants of Northern Wisconsin and describe their negative impacts and methods of control. If you have a mystery plant growing in your yard, bring a fresh sample to the Visitor Center from 2-4 pm and have our biologists identify it for you! Tour the native wildflower gardens, see displays, and learn how to prevent the spread of invasive species. This event is FREE and open to the public. For more information please call Susan Nelson at (715) 685-2644 or Andy Teal at (715) 373-6167.
